What You Need To Know About Waxing
Not many like waxing because it hurts. But still it is a good way to remove hair from the body. If you are like many women, you probably have done it at least once. Before you do it again, there is much to learn about waxing.
First off, did you know that waxing has been around since the times of early Egypt? The wives of royalty would use it because they thought it would keep them beautiful and young forever.
If you look in a dictionary, you will find that the term waxing is described as a temporary method of removing hair that will work by pulling hair from the root. In most cases, hair will not grow back for up to 8 weeks. Virtually any area of the body can be waxed. This includes the areas of the bikini, the legs, the face, the eyebrows, the arms and the feet, back, and abdomen. It works for both women and men. Men are waxing more these days for cosmetic reasons, and some athletes also do so.
What's It Made From?
Most wax is made from a mixture of paraffin or beeswax natural oils, and fats, and a specially designed resin that will help it to stick to the skin. Often, you will find those that have vitamin E or other supplements added to them as well. The first thing that you need to decide when considering this process is if you want to go with a cold wax or a warm wax.
Hot wax is quite commonly used. The wax is heated to a comfortable temperature. Then, a thin layer of it is spread onto the area that will be treated. It is applied in the direction in which the hair is growing. The wax will cool down quickly, it will be torn off. This will pull the hair right out of the follicle. In the cold version, strips of cloth are precoated with wax and then applied to the area. Then, rub the strips in the direction of hair growth then pull them off quickly in the opposite direction. Many believe that the hot method works better than the cold.
What To Do After You Wax
Immediate pressure to the area will help to stop the pain. Once this happens, you can use a moisturizer that conditions with vitamin B or Aloe Vera in it. You should not go swimming, go to a spa or hot tub, go sun tanning or use products such as deodorant, perfume, or aftershave on the area.
When using a hot wax, make sure it is not too hot to touch. Those who have diabetes should talk to their doctor before attempting this procedure. If you have sunburn or have peeling skin, infections, lesions, moles warts, or other rashes or problems with your skin, don't wax until you talk to your doctor. You should not use the products on the eyelashes, nose or eye hairs, and hair near the nipple or that which is on the genitals.
If you can handle a little pain, then waxing is a great way for you to get effective hair removal that will last you about a month or more.
